It Started With a Connection
We met through an app and quickly became close friends. From the beginning, there was mutual respect, laughter and a shared appreciation for creating meaningful experiences.
Husbands, hosts, food lovers, adventure seekers—and the proud owners of Mountain Daddies Bed & Breakfast.
Our story is one of friendship, love, family and a “someday” dream that suddenly became impossible to ignore. It led us from Los Angeles to the Sierra foothills—and to a home we now have the privilege of sharing with guests from around the world.
We met through an app and quickly became close friends. From the beginning, there was mutual respect, laughter and a shared appreciation for creating meaningful experiences.
Over the years, our friendship grew into a lasting partnership. In 2021, we finally acknowledged what had become abundantly clear: we had fallen in love.
Two energetic puppies arrived and officially made us a family—bringing even more personality, movement and joy into our life together.
For years, we talked about investing in real estate and opening a bed and breakfast where we could share our love of hospitality. It felt like a beautiful idea waiting somewhere in the distance.
In 2025, we came to the Sierra Nevada for Jax’s father’s birthday. We fished, explored and slowed down in a way that felt impossible amid the bustle of Los Angeles.
“What if we could build our life here?”
That single question changed everything.
Jax’s family has been coming to and living in the Yosemite area for more than 20 years, so these mountains already felt like a second home. Soon after that trip, we began looking for a property that could become both our home and the bed and breakfast we had imagined.
The moment we toured what is now Mountain Daddies, we knew we had found something special. Julio pictured Jax cooking in the spacious kitchen and guests gathering around the dining table.
When we stepped onto the deck, dozens of hummingbirds appeared. To Julio, they have always symbolized guidance, hope and new beginnings. It felt like an affirmation: this was where we were meant to be.
Jax grew up in his father’s restaurants and brings a lifelong love of food and hospitality to Mountain Daddies. He believes breakfast should feel generous, creative and worth lingering over—and that every guest should feel genuinely welcomed.
Julio brings his hospitality background, an eye for design and an instinct for the thoughtful details that transform a comfortable stay into an unforgettable one.
Together, we’ve created the kind of place we would want to stay ourselves: personal, warm, considered and never rushed.
Mountain Daddies is more than a place to sleep near Yosemite. It is our home—a place where breakfast is made with care, stories are shared around the table and strangers often leave feeling like old friends.
This home is the realization of a dream we have been building for many years. Sharing it with our guests is an incredible privilege.
We cannot wait to welcome you to the mountains—and, of course, to breakfast.
Come experience Yosemite, the Sierra Nevada and a bed-and-breakfast stay that feels genuinely personal.
