Mountain Daddies House Rules

WELCOME TO MOUNTAIN DADDIES!

We're delighted you've chosen to stay with us. Our goal is to provide a comfortable, relaxing, and memorable experience for every guest. These guidelines help ensure that everyone enjoys their stay while respecting fellow guests, our home, and our mountain community.

Check-In & Check-Out

  • Check-in: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Check-out: 11:00 AM

If you expect to arrive outside normal check-in hours, please contact us in advance. We will do our best to accommodate your travel plans.

Respect for Fellow Guests

Mountain Daddies is an intimate, owner-occupied bed and breakfast with shared common spaces.

Please be respectful of fellow guests and help us maintain a peaceful environment for everyone.

Quiet Hours

10:00 PM – 7:00 AM

During quiet hours, please keep conversations, television volume, music, phone calls, and outdoor activities at a considerate level.

Quiet hours apply to all guest rooms, common areas, decks, and outdoor spaces.

Shared Spaces

Guests are welcome to enjoy our:

  • Living room
  • Dining room
  • Outdoor seating areas
  • Decks and viewing areas

Please leave shared spaces tidy and ready for the next guest to enjoy.

The owners live on-site and are generally available to assist guests throughout their stay. We value your privacy while remaining available should you need recommendations, assistance, or accommodations.

Shared Bathroom Guidelines

The Brando Room and Hudson Room share one full guest bathroom.

To help ensure a comfortable experience for everyone:

  • Each guest room is assigned a specific towel color. Please use only the color-coded towels provided for your room.
  • Each guest room has a designated sink and vanity area. Please use the sink assigned to your room.
  • Each in-room vanity is equipped with dedicated lighting, a lighted makeup mirror, and a hair dryer. Guests are encouraged to use these amenities for grooming and personal preparation whenever possible so the shared bathroom remains available for showering and other essential needs.
  • Individual guests may reserve one 15-minute bathroom time slot during the morning by signing up on the whiteboard located outside the bathroom. This allows friends, family members, or couples sharing a room to reserve separate time slots if desired.
  • Please be courteous and limit bathroom use during peak morning hours so all guests have an opportunity to prepare for the day.
  • The downstairs half-bath located on the main floor is available to guests 24 hours a day and may be used at any time.

Fresh Towels & Room Refresh Service

We are happy to provide fresh towels or a room tidy-up during your stay.

  • To help conserve water and energy, please hang towels if you would like to reuse them.
  • Place used towels in the hamper provided if you would like fresh towels.
  • If you would like your room refreshed, additional supplies, or assistance during your stay, simply notify management and we will be happy to help.

Breakfast Service

A complimentary breakfast is included with your stay.

Breakfast is typically served between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM.

Please notify us of any food allergies or dietary restrictions prior to arrival whenever possible.

If you require an earlier breakfast due to travel plans or activities, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Registered Guests Only

Only registered guests included on the reservation may stay overnight at the property.

Visitors are welcome with prior approval from management.

Parties, events, and unauthorized gatherings are not permitted.

Children & Family Stays

Families are welcome at Mountain Daddies Bed and Breakfast.

  • Children are welcome when included as part of the reservation.
  • Infants and children under two (2) years of age require prior approval from management before booking.
  • Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising children at all times.
  • Children should not be left unattended in guest rooms, common areas, decks, stairways, or outdoor spaces.
  • Due to the property's multi-level layout, stairs, decks, and rural mountain setting, guests traveling with children should exercise appropriate caution.

If you are traveling with young children, please contact us before booking so we can discuss your needs and help determine whether the property is a good fit for your family.

Resident Dogs

Mountain Daddies is home to two small, friendly, hypoallergenic Maltipoos who live on the property with the owners.

While many guests enjoy meeting them, interaction is entirely optional. If you have allergies, concerns, or would prefer limited interaction with the dogs during your stay, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your preferences.

For the comfort and safety of all guests, outside pets are not permitted on the property unless otherwise required by law.

Smoking, Vaping & Fire Safety

For the safety of our guests, our home, and the surrounding forested environment:

  • Smoking and vaping of any substance, including tobacco, cannabis, or similar products, are strictly prohibited inside the home, guest rooms, bathrooms, common areas, garage, and covered outdoor spaces.
  • When wildfire restrictions are not in effect, smoking and vaping are permitted only in designated outdoor areas approved by management.
  • During periods of elevated fire danger, Red Flag Warnings, local burn bans, or other wildfire-related restrictions, smoking and vaping may be prohibited anywhere on the property.
  • Cigarette butts, cigar remnants, matches, and other smoking materials must be fully extinguished and disposed of in designated receptacles.
  • Candles, incense, fireworks, sparklers, and open-flame devices are not permitted anywhere on the property.
  • Guests are expected to comply with all applicable California laws regarding the possession and use of cannabis and other regulated substances.

The Sierra Nevada is a high-fire-risk environment. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us protect our guests, neighbors, community, and surrounding forests.

Kitchen Access

The kitchen is a private working area reserved for the owners and is not available for guest use.

To ensure food safety, efficient meal preparation, and compliance with health and safety requirements, guests are asked not to enter the kitchen unless specifically invited by management.

If you need:

  • Drinking water
  • Ice
  • Refrigeration for personal items
  • Assistance with food storage
  • Utensils or dining items
  • Special accommodations

Please let us know and we will be happy to assist.

Our goal is to make your stay comfortable and convenient, so never hesitate to ask if there is something you need.

Food Storage

To discourage insects and wildlife, please do not leave open food containers in guest rooms overnight.

Water Conservation

Our home operates on a private well system.

While water is plentiful, we encourage reasonable conservation practices during your stay and appreciate your efforts to help us preserve this valuable resource.

Parking

  • Please park only in designated guest parking areas.
  • Do not block driveways, access roads, or neighboring properties.
  • Lock vehicles and secure valuables.

Mountain Daddies is not responsible for loss or damage to vehicles or personal belongings.

Wildlife & Nature

One of the joys of staying in the Sierra foothills is experiencing the area's abundant wildlife and natural beauty.

Wildlife commonly found in the area may include:

  • Deer
  • Wild turkeys
  • Raccoons
  • Squirrels
  • Birds of prey
  • Coyotes
  • Black bears
  • Mountain lions
  • Rattlesnakes (primarily during warmer months)

While wildlife encounters are uncommon, guests should exercise caution and common sense when outdoors.

Please:

  • Do not feed wildlife.
  • Do not leave food, beverages, coolers, or trash outdoors.
  • Keep a safe distance from all wild animals.
  • Never approach, follow, or attempt to photograph wildlife at close range.
  • Supervise children closely when outdoors.
  • Keep to established walkways and well-lit areas after dark whenever possible.

Bear Awareness

Black bears are occasionally present in the surrounding area. Although sightings are infrequent, guests should never leave food, coolers, pet food, or scented items unattended outdoors or in unsecured vehicles.

Rattlesnake Awareness

Rattlesnakes are native to the Sierra foothills and may be encountered during warmer months, particularly from spring through fall.

When walking outdoors:

  • Wear appropriate footwear.
  • Watch where you step and place your hands.
  • Avoid reaching into brush, wood piles, rock crevices, or other areas where snakes may seek shelter.
  • If you encounter a snake, give it plenty of space and allow it to move away on its own.

If you observe potentially dangerous wildlife near guest areas, please notify management promptly.

Lost & Found

Items left behind will be held for 30 days whenever practical.

Guests are responsible for any shipping costs associated with returning personal belongings.

Damages

Accidents happen.

If something is damaged or not functioning properly, please let us know immediately so we can address it promptly.

Guests may be responsible for damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or unauthorized activity.

Our Simple Philosophy

Treat our home as you would hope guests would treat yours.

Be respectful, be kind, and enjoy your time in the mountains.

Thank you for staying with us.
